Forest Master Compact Electric Start Petrol Wood Chipper 6HP

The FM6DD is a patent-pending (GB2008049.5) compact petrol wood chipper capable of chipping wood up to 50mm (2 inches) in diameter. The FM6DD’s powerful 6hp LCT engine can rotate the chipper drum at a maximum of 3600rpm. This enables it to easily chip all kinds of freshly cut wood from hard to soft. It is a direct drive for better performance and this also means that there are no belts or chains that you have to keep adjusting.

This model is an upgraded Electric Start version for those who don’t want to deal with the hassle of a pull start. The electric start version also includes a backup pull-start. If you wish to purchase a pull-start only edition – view our FM6DD wood chipper.

The FM6DD has twin reversible blades so that when one side becomes worn from use the blades can simply be turned around to use the second side. This saves the need for constant resharpening and effectively doubles the life of the blades. The lightweight and compact size of the chipper enables it to be extremely manoeuvrable and easy to store. Both the feed hopper and the discharge chute have a hinged chute design, enabling the user to easily access the drum for quick maintenance. The end of the FM6DD’s discharge chute can be angled to direct the chips.

The FM6DD is powered by the latest LCT Maxx Series 208cc 4 Stroke engine. LCT are a US-owned company that manufacture 4 stroke engines that are used in a wide variety of outdoor power equipment.

The powerful and compact wood chipper only requires minimal maintenance, you are only required to check the oil level and the cutting blades of the chipper, both of which can be easily replaced or refilled in just a few short moments.

The entrance leading directly to the cutter (hopper chute) is 95mm x 95mm. The upper section has a CE plate fitted. This safety plate is not required for the USA or Canada.

Forest Master Petrol 6HP Compact Garden Wood Chipper & Shredder - FM6DD

Delivered promptly to France. I have a large garden including a woodland area so this will be invaluable in dealing with all the cuttings. Only used once so far but impressed with the machine, many thanks.

Great service only issue was instructions for building chipper. Straightforward apart from fact that with the electric start model needs to be emphasised that battery and compartment need to be attached at same time as the main body to the wheels. It states that but in the instructions it is on the following page so had to undo all bolts again which became very awkward and time consuming.

  3. jeffrey s. (verified owner)

Great piece of equipment, easy to assemble, super fast delivery.

  4. Patrick Cook (verified owner)

Forest master gave very good service from ordering to delivery. Their clear and comprehensive website made choosing the correct machine easy. The machine is an excellent shredder that is simple to operate.
A more comprehensive tool/ socket set would be a useful addition. I bought my shredder fully assembled but would not have been able to assemble it with the tool kit provided. Spanners / sockets to fit all nuts would be helpful, as would a detachable handle to make moving the shredder more easy.
With its large wheels and relatively light weight the shredder moves well but as it is not a big machine you have to bend over a long way to hold the shredder whilst moving it which is uncomfortable. A handle for moving the machine which could be detached whilst operating it would be a good addition.
These are minor points and I am very pleased with the shredder. I anticipate that it will become a favourite piece of garden equipment.

Great little chipper for size and price, easy to move around, dose its job fine

  11. Ricky Watkins (verified owner)

Looks a good machine started easily not used yet but very loud it would appear

  12. Matthew Callis (verified owner)

Bought this chipper after the hired one turned up blunt and not fit for the job.
This little ‘beast’ is a proper chipper. Processed 100s of Kg’s of Laurel an hour. Ran it ALL day long only stopping to cool down and refuel – no issues!!
Unless your a tree surgeon this should handle most jobs. Electric start is well worth the extra. Easy to move on wheels and light enough for a big lad to pick up.

Very pleased with this product it’s performance is excellent

  16. Amanda (verified owner)

Worked it bank holiday weekend for most of two days. About 6 ltrs of fuel

+ seems to cope with strait bits of wood very well (obviously that fit through the holes provided)

Engine seemed to cope well, only thing with the engine is it need to have the choke on to start it , even after five or ten mins work.

    Downs

If you get a piece that’s got a fork in or has knot it can be hard to get the wood through the holes, a 2” consistent gap it would be ok.

If you buy spare blades……you get one but the unit has two, I think it should say spare double sided blade…order two to replace both.

Overall I was happy, it did what I wanted

  17. andrew hicks (verified owner)

Arrived 5days after ordering very fast cocedering where I live , simple to assembled, compact and very easy to use , very efficient , not overly noisy, A superb bit of kit

  18. Jeffrey T. (verified owner)

shame the battery was as flat as a pancake, but apart from that it works as it should

  19. PETER N. (verified owner)

First class service and quick delivery, all in all good value product. Pleased with the woodchipper and would buy from them again. Bought the electric start FM6DDES and it started first turn of the key. Easy assembly if you follow the FM instructions manual and not the guy on youtube who puts the bolts in upside down and makes it hard work for himself! Read the manual from start to finish first, look carefully at the way the bolts go in and no problems.

Absolute brilliant machine, plenty of power. Made easy work of the conifers I reduced by over 2m. Payed for itself on day one by the number of skips I’d have needed. Worth every penny. Trust me you won’t be disappointed if your looking to buy one 👍🏻

Dry disappointed. No oil has been received. Email sent but no response.

  26. Paul C. (verified owner)

Didn’t know what to expect from this little chipper, I have a willow that needs a copping every year and have used an electric garden shredder in the past but was slow and time consuming. Don’t be put off by the size it’s more than powerful enough to deal with branches up to 50mm or 2 inch. It is for home use but I have to say I’m happy with the little beast for the money.

FIRST CLASS DELIVERY SERVICE,EXCELLENT PRODUCT,BUT YOU DID NOT INCLUDE OPERATERS MANUAL WITH DELIVERY.

  28. Alyson L. (verified owner)

Little Monster! I’ve waited too long for this. Bought assembled and just added oil and petrol as instructed. Turned the key and off we go. Munched through Willow Silver Birch and Beech hedge with ease. Very sturdy and I found easy to move by tipping and wheeling from input end. The protection feeding plate is shaped with two holes and to be honest a little restrictive if you have a couple knots or small branches coming off main piece, would think a straight cut across would be easier for feeding and still offer protection. Great service, plenty of questions answered and delivery as agreed. Thank you.

  29. Alison (verified owner)

Machine kept on jamming, and then becoming clogged up with ‘sawdust’ before stopping. So really disappointed with first trial . We were chipping laurel that had been cut 3 days previously. Company advised me that it needs to be very freshly cut wood, and as it hasn’t stopped raining since we have been unable to test further with freshly cut wood.

Q & A

Hi Do these machines need to be cooled down often? Obviously depends on size of things going and for how long but I don’t want a machine that has to cool down every 20 minutes. Thanks Steve asked on March 23, 2022

The chipper features an air-cooled engine, as long as it's not in a confined space it is able to run all day long. However, I would note that if you need to refill with petrol, you will need to wait for the engine to cool down before doing so.
