Forest Master Compact Electric Start Petrol Wood Chipper 6HP
The FM6DD (GB2008049.5) compact petrol wood chipper is capable of chipping wood up to 50mm (2 inches) in diameter. The FM6DD’s powerful 6hp LCT engine can rotate the chipper drum at a maximum of 3600rpm. This enables it to easily chip all kinds of freshly cut wood from hard to soft. It is a direct drive for better performance and this also means that there are no belts or chains that you have to keep adjusting.

The FM6DD has twin reversible blades so that when one side becomes worn from use the blades can simply be turned around to use the second side. This saves the need for constant resharpening and effectively doubles the life of the blades. The lightweight and compact size of the chipper enables it to be extremely manoeuvrable and easy to store. Both the feed hopper and the discharge chute have a hinged chute design, enabling the user to access the drum for quick maintenance easily. The end of the FM6DD’s discharge chute can be angled to direct the chips.
The FM6DD is powered by the latest LCT Maxx Series 208cc 4 Stroke engine. LCT are a US-owned company that manufactures 4-stroke engines that are used in a wide variety of outdoor power equipment.
The powerful and compact wood chipper only requires minimal maintenance, you are only required to check the oil level and the cutting blades of the chipper, both of which can be easily replaced or refilled in just a few short moments.
The entrance leading directly to the cutter (hopper chute) is 95mm x 95mm. The upper section has a CE plate fitted. This safety plate is not required for the USA or Canada.

I bought this to tackle a number of conifer trees and large bushes that had become overgrown. It works really well. If you are shredding a larger branch then it has to be fed into the machine very carefully or the engine stalls. That being said it coped well with what I threw at it (large branches and all) and I am pleased with the purchase. The only reason for the 4 and not 5 star review was for a small matter of the waste chute that continually blocked from the foliage of the conifers. The sap stuck to the sides of the chute and encouraged the waste to do likewise. I don’t suppose the design team can do much about that though. As I said, it is a great piece of kit that is easily transportable and very powerful for its size. It was also very easy to put together and fired up first time. This has saved me numerous trips to the local tip and has produced a large amount of free mulch for the garden.
Assembly is a bit tricky – the problem I had is that the bolts going throught the battery hopper, wheel frame and through to the engine mount are just a touch too short if using the flat and spring washer to secure everything – an extra 5mm in length would be better. It took about an hour to assemble from box to ‘ready for use’.
Easy to put together, filled with oil and fuel started straight off on key chipped well, confusing though with oil level put in right amount but nothing came out when bolt taken out of cutter block as told in booklet
