Powerful 2-Speed Electric Log Splitter (8-Ton) with Work Bench & Guard

The 2016 updated FM16D log splitter can produce up to a massive 8 tons in splitting force. It has a two-speed ram for soft or hardwood. When splitting softwood, pushing the operating lever halfway gives you the fastest speed with reduced force. When splitting hardwood, pushing the operating lever all the way down gives you the full 8 tons force at a slower speed. The FM16 log splitter is heavy duty in every way.  The heavy-duty nature of the log splitter allows it to complete tasks in which other competitor brands of log splitters can not. An example of this is that with competitor log splitters, the ram must stop 150mm short of the blade as it does not have the heavy-duty capability to split to the end. The FM16 make it easy to split logs the entire way and remove the physical aspect of having to rip logs apart at the end of the splitting process.

The FM16D is fitted with our trademarked DuocutTM blade that increases the efficiency of splitting and makes the log splitter much better at handling knotty wood than single blade splitters. It also comes with a Ram-stop for reducing cycle time with short logs.

The heavy-duty FM16D was designed for long-lasting use and can handle logs up to 460mm in length and 400mm in diameter.

It comes filled with hydraulic oil ready for use.

The newest edition FM16TW log splitter comes with a workbench and guard to comply with all new safety regulations. Unlike the safety cages fitted by other manufacturers, our guard has sides with no openings so that split logs cannot catch in an opening and cause damage. Our guard will also accommodate logs up to 400mm* diameter whereas other manufacturers can only handle 250mm diameter.

  1. Alan A. (verified owner)

Excellent build quality and performance. Tried it out on a large ash log with knots that had defied the axe – worked a treat.
    First class delivery service.
Very helpful when I contacted re buying a stand as an afterthought – which also arrived within 24 hours.
All in all, a first rate product from an exemplary British company.

  2. Peter Davison (verified owner)

Build quality of this product/machine is very good, couldn’t fault Forest Master from my initial enquiry, to ordering and the prompt delivery I received, I would certainly recommend to friends and family.

I bought the 8 ton 2-speed electric log splitter – and it is a superb piece of kit. It is very well thought out, well made, and made short, effortless work of 4 tons of very large knotty and twisted beech when I put it to work straight out of the box. The two speed control is brilliant, as you can flick between speeds instantly, depending on the force required, and the adjustable home position stop is a brilliant time saver that is quickly adjusted on the fly.
Before committing to my purchase, the customer service over the phone was very good; the guy was knowledgeable and helpful, and answered a long list of picky questions that I had. Once ordered, the product was at my door in under 24hrs (well, it would have been if our road had not been unexpectedly closed.)
However… whilst the product itself is truly excellent and I can recommend it thoroughly, you need to be prepared for the absolutely shambolic packing and logistics team at Forest Master. Without going into details (which would be long and tedious), there was stuff missing, stuff damaged in shipping, and it is still not all resolved now, over a month later. The customer services were generally quick to respond each time and were polite and helpful, but they have seriously got their work cut out to keep up with their packing and shipping crew who are really letting the side down for the company. But brave it out – the product is still worth it.

  7. Keith Hayes

What a fantastic piece of UK built kit. Delivery was prompt and service polite.
I split a very large pile of large oak logs in double quick time, even knotty ones.
    Brilliant!

  8. Nigel Adams (verified owner)

A great machine. My second actually, which speaks volumes. The service from Forest Master is as good as it was 7 years ago.

I was a bit apprehensive as to whether or not this machine would be able to do the job I wanted doing. I have a witch elm I wanted to log up and had tried to do it with my axe, I have split most timber by hand but this was impossible, amazingly the log splitter handled the job with ease. I am so pleased with it. It is a very sturdy machine, arrived in two days. The only thing I would say is that the guard assembly that came with it looked restrictive, I haven’t put it on and in the instructions it said that if not in the EU you don’t have to. I have used wood working machinery all my working life and I find that the simpler the operation is the safer. Without the guarding on I felt perfectly safe using it.

  15. Martyn Spence (verified owner)

Fast delivery and good quality of log splitter.

  16. Paul (verified owner)

A very powerful machine. Used to split 40cm diameter ash trunk fallen in recent storm and it coped with ease. 2 speed action was a real benefit. Is heavy but stable and needed to be to handle the equally heavy trunk. Disappointed that it has to be operated holding the start button pressed in but as a safety feature I assume other makes would have the same arrangement.
    Fantastic machine overall.

I have always split my logs with a maul as I thought a hydraulic log splitter would be too slow. However I was wrong, I’ve just split a pile of rounds average 500mm diameter that would have taken me most of the day to split and stack in three hours! This was freshly felled with some quite knotty rounds. I then went on to split a bin full of kindling which took around 20 minutes. The speed of splitting is much helped by the two speeds allowing easier to split pieces to be processed at the faster speed and by adding some more pressure to the lever full power is engaged for the harder to split wood.

The splitter came fully assembled with the exception of fitting the wheels which took less than a couple of minutes, build quality seems very good and the splitter is reassuringly heavy.

Customer service was excellent answering my pre purchase questions honestly. Due to purchasing after the easter weekend delivery took and additional day but this was followed up by customer services who were extremely helpful especially Donna who sorted the delivery out and called me back as promised with progress.

All in all Forest Master are a decent company to deal with and the splitter I bought is top notch and I would recommend both the company and the product.

  19. Peter (verified owner)

Excellent, good value and works brilliantly.

First class service. Fast & prompt delivery and excellent after sales service. Highly recommended.

  21. Kathleen Scott (verified owner)

Delivery driver was very nice and polite, only negative I got email in the morning of the delivery day, waited all day arrived at 3pm, could have given a rough time, like other delivery gives us a 2 hrs slot, tried to track the delivery but said it would be delivered that day , other then that the service was good

Q & A

Question
Do they take assembling if so from a scale to 1to10 how difficult as I am a pensioner with mobility problems. James Cullen asked on April 23, 2022
Answer
The log splitter itself is ready for use out of the box. It will take around 20 - 30 minutes at a standard pace in order to assemble the tray and guard which surrounds the log splitter. This doesn't require any heavy lifting, just putting together the sides using a series of screws. Forest Master answered on April 25, 2022 store managerstore manager
