Forest Master Compact Petrol Wood Chipper 6HP Garden Shredder
The FM6DD is a patented (GB2008049.5) compact petrol wood chipper for sale which is capable of chipping wood up to 50mm (2 inches) in diameter. The FM6DD’s powerful 6hp LCT engine can rotate the chipper drum at a maximum of 3600rpm. This enables it to easily chip all kinds of freshly cut wood from hard to soft. It is a direct drive for better performance and this also means that there are no belts or chains that you have to keep adjusting.
We have two versions of the FM6DD available, a standard version that features a pull start and an upgraded Electric Start version for those who don’t want to deal with the hassle of a pull start. The electric start version also includes a backup pull-start.
The FM6DD has twin reversible blades so that when one side becomes worn from use the blades can simply be turned around to use the second side. This saves the need for constant resharpening and effectively doubles the life of the blades. The lightweight and compact size of the chipper enables it to be extremely manoeuvrable and easy to store. Both the feed hopper and the discharge chute have a hinged chute design, enabling the user to access the drum for quick maintenance easily. The end of the FM6DD’s discharge chute can be angled to direct the chips.
A standout feature of our latest wood chipper series is the Enhanced Anti-Blocking System—an intelligent design incorporating a fully rotatable hopper and exit chute. This allows you to adjust the chipper’s intake angle depending on the type of material you’re handling, giving you precise control over feed rate and chipping performance.
When processing softer material like green waste, leaves, and smaller branches, simply tip the hopper forward. This angle increases the feed rate, allowing lighter material to flow quickly and efficiently into the chipper drum for faster processing. On the other hand, when you’re dealing with thicker, more robust branches, tilting the hopper back helps slow down the intake. This gives the machine more time to chip through the tougher wood without overloading the engine—reducing the chance of stalls and helping ensure a cleaner, more powerful chip.
The FM6DD is powered by the latest LCT Maxx Series 208cc 4 Stroke engine. LCT are a US-owned company that manufactures 4-stroke engines that are used in a wide variety of outdoor power equipment.
The powerful and compact wood chipper only requires minimal maintenance, you are only required to check the oil level and the cutting blades of the chipper, both of which can be easily replaced or refilled in just a few short moments.
The entrance leading directly to the cutter (hopper chute) is 95mm x 95mm. The upper section has a CE plate fitted. This safety plate is not required for the USA or Canada.

Note that this machine is shipped dry and requires engine oil. Use standard 4 Stroke oil such as 10W-40.

A fantastic machine all round but be warned its extremely top heavy and almost fell through my antaras rear window so strap it in your vehicle safely, its also quite heavy and difficult to move around having no bars like a wheelbarrow also being top heavy it is easy to lose control on moving it into say a shed and it falling over on you. It seems to have 2 oil caps so filled with oil and petrol with some stabilizer but i will have to read on the start up procedure as i couldnt get it to start easily, seems choke on bit throttle start and then choke off and it fires right up. The hopper guard is needed but a right royal pain in the behind (and the rubber strips) when you are loading branches with bits sticking off them and any larger branches that are not quite straight but the guard is required as thicker branches can kick back. Thorny huge lengths got sucked and chipped lovely but mind your hands they can grab you. Great machine just takes some getting used to. Have a good strong stick to push the other wood into the feed hopper. Blocked on me once but easy to sort and it ran for ages on a tank of fuel. My only wish is for it to be more mobile with handles like a wheel barrow and a more stable platform for the engine. For the price i would say fantastic bit o kit.
Would be handy to have an handle/handles with rubber grips to manoeuvre and to lift.
Spark plug tool needs to be longer
Great bit of kit. Easy to assemble and for the size of it the little chipper chips anything I put down the chute.
Great machine. Not too difficult to assemble, but found a video easier than the manual. Works well and does a great job. Very happy.
