Forest Master Manual Log Splitter Axe Splitting Wedge with Ultimate Splitting Base Blade

Our Smart Splitter is a safe, easy to use, ergonomic alternative to an axe or wedge. It uses a drop weight on a guide pole to impart the force to the splitting blade, no swinging an axe or mallet which can miss their target and injure the user. The weight is easy to lift and needs just a slight downward thrust, meaning much less strain on your shoulders and back. The Smart Splitter is safe for all the family to use.

Easy to set up, all you need is a flat woodblock or large log to use as a base. Drill a hole for the support pole using the wood drill provided, place the base washer over the guide pole then place the blade onto the guide pole and it’s ready to go. It can quickly be removed from the base for ease of storage.

The Smart Splitter comes complete with our Ultimate Splitting Base Blade (RRP 29.99), which is a quick, safe way to split kindling and can also be used as an opposing blade when splitting knotty logs. Simply mount the base blade (using the screws provided) on the woodblock in line with the Smart Splitter blade and split logs with the increased splitting efficiency of two opposing blades.

To effectively use this tool to split logs, the wood should be seasoned. The impact of the drop weight will effectively split the wood logs with little effort.

The Smart Splitter utilises a metal shielded nylon impact bush to transmit the force from the drop weight to the blade. This has two advantages over the plain nylon bushes used on other drop weight log splitters; Because the bush does not distort as much on impact, the force is transmitted more efficiently to the blade making splitting easier and secondly, the bush is less prone to splitting and damage.

The Smart Splitter comes complete with our Ultimate Splitting Base Blade, which is a quick, safe way to split kindling and can also be used as an opposing blade when splitting knotty logs. Simply mount the base blade (using the screws provided) on the woodblock in line with the Smart Splitter blade and split logs with the increased splitting efficiency of two opposing blades.

The Smart Splitter is an environmentally friendly green way to split logs and provides strain-free wood splitting.

Good bit of kit . Makes very light work of kindling and chopping logs so much easier than an axe . I would recommend this product

Product is well made and solid construction. Taking a little time to set it up properly on a solid and sizeable chopping block is worthwhile. Having spent many years splitting with a maul and wedge, this is much more controlled and less effort. But bear in mind it is a manual splitter and you will still need to put a decent amount of physical effort to split hard woods. Overall a good purchase.

Easy to put together with very clear instructions. The blade did get stuck in the log the first time I used it so I tend to make sure it’s lined up with the edge of the log before cutting now. Good, well made and thought through product.

Reasonably priced splitter that really does 2 jobs. Not only does it split wood easily but it builds up your biceps at the same time. Simples. The only difficulty I had was getting the guide vertical. Nice job Forest Master.

Certainly doesn’t split wood in one strike. Wood is prone to getting stuck to wedge also. Safer than axe but not as efficient.

Arrived on time. It does what it says on tin. The only thing that is to be confirmed is its durability. It seems sturdy enough but I neeud to see what it is like after a winter of use.

Haven’t used it yet as I’m taking it to Sweden to use on our wood pile there (rating based on anticipation and the manual splitter base blade which I also bought for small kindling). Arrived very quickly and a couple of days earlier than advised which was good.

Really enjoy using this. Unlike when welding an axe you can set the splitting point very accurately for both top and bottom blades before striking to ensure getting exact sized logs.

This is a great bit of kit. My comments are: 1 good value 2 nice not to need power 3 fast compared to powered splitters I have used. 4 funny shape to store If left set up. 5 required mostly several ‘throws’ to split seasoned logs of Bhutan pine and sycamore. 6 early days for durability but fear for the long thin pole on which the weight slides and for the plastic washer which takes the hit. 7 ear defenders a must. 8 I like it a lot!!

The splitter is fantastic. Setting it up without access to a workshop was a challenge. It reminded me of 17th century recipes for rabbit stew, where the first instruction is – ‘first, catch your rabbit’. In this case, it was ‘first get a log and drill a vertical hole in it’. The flat bit supplied is too short to drill the 12cm hole, and is the wrong type to be able to drill vertically to such a depth. It took 3 attempts with the flat bit before I abandoned it, the last one on a firend’s pillar drill. Two goes with an auger bit and I have a hole that is almost vertical. The screws for fitting the bottom axe are PZ1 – I broke a bit and ended up swapping them out for standard PZ2 wood screws. ForestMaster might consider a side line in supplying pre-drilled logs for their less woody customers. Two weeks to catch my rabbit, 20 minutes to set the splitter up.

Brilliant to use, possibly not as fast as using an axe, but lot more accurate and safer. Great for kindling as well
